The Sweet Spot

I’m almost 75 years old. Three-quarters of a century.
How cool is that?
Who knew I’d get here—still kicking, still feeling good.
Truth is, I remember feeling not this good when I was a lot younger.
People love to tell me that 75 isn’t old.
"It's Just a Number" (Right!)
They’re usually 60 or younger.
Only young folks say stupid things like that.
Of course, 75 is old—and I love it.
I earned the right to say I'm "old."
I earned the right to enjoy it.
And I do.
I hope you get to be this "old" someday.
For 75 years, I’ve been hunting for the sweet spot of Life..
That place where balance lives.
I named it: Effective Translational Life—the place where you don’t have to work as hard, where living becomes effortless.
In helicopters, we call it Effective Translational Lift (ETL).
Every pilot works toward ETL,
that moment when the rotor’s push meets forward motion,
and the machine exhales, lightens, and rises,
Effortlessly.
That’s where I am still—seeking Effective Translational Life.
The place of balance.
I never cared for the word balance.
It's impossible to hold it for long.
But balance isn’t a perfect or permanent equation—it’s a rhythm.
It comes from listening.
To others, yes, but mostly to that still, small voice inside.
Your voice.
That’s the sweet spot.
That’s the lift
.Find your own voice.
Live effortlessly.
Seek your Effective Translational Life.
You will age slower.
And you'll have more fun.
Take some advice from your elder ... ME
